Nickelodeon veteran Russell Hicks steps down

Nickelodeon president of content development and production, Russell Hicks has stepped down and will no longer be a part of the Nickelodeon Group.

He served around four years as president of content development and production for the Viacom’s Nickelodeon Group, where he oversaw both animation and live-action projects. However, he had been with the company for 14 years and was primarily based in Burbank.

nickelodeon-logo“Russell Hicks has decided to step down from his position effective immediately,” a Nick spokesperson informed. His exit came soon after his return from a four-month medical leave.

Prior to assuming the president post, Hick served as chief creative officer for six years, where he oversaw all of Nickelodeon creative, on-air promotions, consumer products, and brand and advertising divisions.

The studio’s major animation projects produced during his tenure include Sanjay & Craig, Breadwinners, Harvey Beaks, Pig Goat Banana Cricket, The Loud House, and the yet-to-debut Pinky Malinky and Welcome to the Wayne.

The current temporary structure for the teams will remain in place while the studio will regroup and formulate the right plan for going forward. The studio does not have a replacement lined up to take his place as of now.
