Minions of ‘Despicable Me’ fame set to get their own comics

The little yellow adorable creatures of Universal Pictures’ Despicable Me franchise have more reason to celebrate after getting their very own feature film that will release in theatres this June worldwide, they also have a comic book series to look forward to.

Gru’s adorable yellow assistants became huge stars after appearing in Dreamwork’s two animated blockbusters, and they’re ready to bring their charm to the page as part of a new comic book deal.

Stuart, Kevin, Bob and the rest of the gang are set for more adventures in a whole new world with a deal with Titan Comics, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Titan publisher Nick Landau said the company is “so excited to be part of this wonderful franchise”. It is said the deal will include four comic book issues, two hardcover editions, two digest collections and a paperback collection.

The series will launch on 17 June, to tie in with the upcoming Minions movie, which hits the big screen later that month. The prequel is set in the B.G. (Before Gru) era, but Stuart, Kevin and Bob are already on the search for an evil master.

In a teaser unveiled earlier this year, the three Minions are heading for Villain-Con 1968 as they hope to work for inventor Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock).

Larger than life and utterly evil, she still has enough about her to bring the trio on board – even if her bedtime story is a little unconventional. Minions is expected to be released in the UK on 26 June.
