Marvel’s ‘Silk’iest issue to release this February

Spinning out of the pages of Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Verse, Marvel introduced a brand new ongoing series this February starring the newest heroine of the Marvel Universe, Silk #1.

Another female-led book has hit the shelves, but this should please all Spidey fans since the universe is expanding yet again without accentuating Peter Parker (although he will make a guest appearance).

The series, which tells the story of Cindy Moon and her crime-fighting alter-ego named Silk, comes a year after another superhero Kamala Khan became the first Muslim character to headline one of Marvel’s comic books. Like Kamala, a character created by writer G Willow Wilson and Marvel editor Sana Amanat, Cindy possesses certain powers that allow her to fight evil in the Marvel universe – powers she gained after being bitten by the same irradiated spider that turned Peter Parker into Spider-Man.

The untitled book will be 20 pages long and has been written and illustrated by Robbie Thompson and Stancey Lee respectively; colouring by Ian Herring, letters- VC’s Travis Lanham and cover pages by talented Dave Johnson, Stacey Lee and Skottie Young.

Cindy Moon exploded out of her bunker and into the Marvel Universe in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man and she never looked back. Bit by a radioactive spider, she’s spent her years locked away in a bunker, safe from the threat of Morlun and the Inheritors. Since then, she’s saved Peter Parker’s life (more than once), fought alongside Spider-Woman, and braved the Spider-Verse and more.

Now, Cindy is back in New York City, patrolling its rooftops as Silk, and she’s going to make up for lost time. Searching for her past, defining her own future, and webbing wrong-doers along the way. The newest launch of 2015 Silk #and will be available in shops from this month at the price of $3.99.
