Malaysian animated series, Hogie, the Globehopper wins the Best Planning award at Seoul Promotion Plan

It’s time for the Malaysian animation industry to rejoice as Lil Critter Workshop, their home grown production house has won the Best Planning Award for its original series, Hogie, the Globehopper, at the Seol Promotion Plan-(SPP) 2015. Apart from the award, the creative house has also won $10,000 as the prize money.

A total of 75 entries from 16 countries were submitted to the Competition. Out of which Hogie the Globehopper by Lil Critter Workshop from Malaysia won one of top 3 honours. The other 2 awards were won by Korean Animation Studios, namely Wolfdaddy of Now or Never for Best Creativity Award and Loco Zoologica of Grafizix for Best Technology Award. Out of 20 SPP Finalists, 4 were from Southeast Asia: Pumpkin Reports of Young Jump Animation (Malaysia), Abu & Otak of Ano Pica Studios (Malaysia), Hogie the Globehopper of Lil Critter Workshop (Malaysia) and Miles & Stone of Kumata Animation Studio (Indonesia).

The Seoul Promotion Plan (SPP) is the largest annual international animation market in Asia. This was the 15th edition of the SPP and this year it was held between13 to 15 July in Seoul, South Korea, and was organised by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Business Agency (SBA) in association with Malaysia’s Global Creative and Media Agency (GCMA). The event succeeded in attracting an approximate crowd of  300 serious Korean and international delegates, representing 18 countries, namely Argentina, Brazil, China, Finland, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Spain and United States.

Hogie from Hogie, The Globehopper (11 minutes x 52 episodes) is a fun-loving tree frog who, along with his pal Bernie, travels the globe, making friends with kids all over the world. His globe-hopping adventures are designed to teach young children aged 2 to 6 years about cultures around the world, other languages, the unique features of various communities and the importance of embracing them as the global neighbours that they are.
