When was the last time you’ve had anything very similar to any game that you’ve played? Numbers will be large. Since mobile games have been on the rise, clones have been one of the many things that have grown with it.
LEGO, the company which is dabbling in the games business with the movie franchise games like The Hobbit, Lords of the Rings, Avengers and many more have recently released an ‘Early Access’ version of its latest game LEGO Worlds which bares vast resemblance to Markus ‘Notch’ Person game Minecraft.
Currently available on Steam for Ł11.99, LEGO Worlds is an open world environment made entirely on LEGO bricks and can be worked upon just like the physical LEGO blocks. Worlds can be modified and construct and explore virtual Lego sets. The game even has LEGO vehicles, mini LEGO figurines and creatures – all based on real-life playsets.
Still in the early access mode, the game is currently being worked upon with the feedback it is getting from the users and only has parts of its planned features available for users to get their hands dirty with. Developed by Traveller’s Tales Games, the same studio behind LEGO Dimensions with the final release expected by early 2016.
With LEGO already being a household across globe, some of the users on its Steam page have opined that the Danish company should have been the one behind the original Minecraft and should have been made years ago.
LEGO although a physical toy company has now expanded its branches in various forms and the willingness of the company to expand has really made the company that aims for the Disney title next. With already a hit film to its name, it has licenses from films like Batman, Avengers and Star Wars, so one can expect characters to emerge in the Worlds universe. Although, Minecraft has its fair share of clones to deal with likes of Terraria, SkySage and Planet3 coming up now and then but the Microsoft owned box-art game is still very much the game people play with the audience base it has created over the years.
