LA India connect short film contest call for entries

Film making is on the Charts! Don’t miss out on this one!

LA-INDIA Film Council in Association with Pocket Films [The Content Division of 1takemedia.com] has launched ‘LA INDIA CONNECT SHORT FILM CONTEST’.

The contest is funded by the LA-India Film Council and supported by Pocket Films. This initiative taken by LA India Film Council will encourage creativity and ideas among students and this contest is aimed at film and media students in Los Angeles and India. ’Hollywood-Bollywood’ is the theme of this contest. Any genres of movie making are welcome in this competition. The films could be live action or any kind of animation movies delivering universal appeal. A movie that bypasses geographical boundaries and appeals to audiences everywhere is a crucial submission criterion for this competition.

Also, films that showcase the participants’ creativity, imagination, vision, story-telling and film making abilities and primarily appeal to global audiences are bound to win the crown.

The Judging Panel for LA INDIA SHORT FILM CONTEST will  be graced with Industry Stalwarts, Shekhar Kapur, Mahesh Bhatt, Nagesh Kuknoor,Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra,  D J Narain (Director, FTII),Ravi Gupta (Dean, Whistling Woods International), D Suresh Babu (President, APFCC), Steve Weinstein, President & CEO, Movie Labs (USA), Ms. Teri Schwartz (Dean, UCLA School of Theatre, Film & Television)

So students! With this contest, you stand a bright chance to present your talent to the doyens of the industry both in India and Los Angeles.

Commenting on LA-INDIA CONNECT SHORT FILM COMPETITION, Uday Singh, Chairman, LA India Film Council, shared, “It is important to nurture talent and give students an opportunity to showcase their work as they are the building blocks of the entertainment industry. This competition is our attempt to connect Hollywood and Bollywood and appreciate and acknowledge talent in both these communities.”

Participants can submit their movies online or can send it by post. The deadline for submitting entries is 14th August 2012 & the results are slated to be announced by September end.

15 shortlisted / nominated films will be available for online voting from 7th September 2012 till 21st September 2012 on www.1takecontests.com. The film receiving maximum votes in this online voting period will be awarded the ‘Most Popular Film Award’.

The winners of this competition will be divided into ‘The Jury Award’ and ‘The Most Popular Film Award’.

Ramanaidu Film School is the Prize Sponsor for this contest. The Jury award winner, one each from Los Angeles and India, will gain work experience at major production company along with a cash prize equivalent to US$ 1,000 whereas ‘The Most Popular Film Award’ winner will be awarded with a trophy and a certificate.

Our intent is to push the young talent into believing that the world is their playground and this contest can be their stepping stone into the global entertainment industry.”

This contest is not only a treat for winners, but also all participating films will be distributed by Pocket Films, across platforms, leading to higher visibility of the film and the participants will also be entitled to a share in the revenue generated for their films. Thus, the participants continue to benefit by participating even after the contest is over, irrespective of the results.
