Kidscreen Awards 2016 calls for entries; incorporates iKids Awards as well

Heading into its seventh year of celebrating excellence in children’s television, Kidscreen Awards 2016 has added a new set of categories to also pay tribute to the market’s best digital media content, products and platforms for kids.

The following Digital Categories for Preschool (0 to 5) and Kids (6 and up), which were previously presented separately as iKids Awards, are being incorporated into the Kidscreen Awards program for the first time this year:

  • Best eBook
  • Best Game App (Smartphone)
  • Best Game App (Tablet)
  • Best Learning App (Smartphone)
  • Best Learning App (Tablet)
  • Best Streaming Video Platform

  • Best Web/App Series
  • Best Website

New to the mix in the Broadcasting Categories is a prize for the year’s best programming block.

  • Channel of the Year
  • Best Channel Design
  • Best Programming Block
  • Best Channel Website
  • Best On-Air Host or Hosting Team

And the Programming Category lineup remains the same, so television shows targeting Preschoolers (0 to 5), Kids (6 to 10) and Tweens/Teens (11 to 17) can be put in the running to win these prizes:

  • Best New Series
  • Best Animated Series
  • Best Non-Animated or Mixed Series
  • Best One-off, Special or TV Movie

Early-Bird Entry Fees are in effect again, offering savings to companies that complete their entries well before deadline. For all categories, the entry fee is $300 until 14 August, and $400 after that date.

Winners will be announced at an evening presentation event as part of next year’s Kidscreen Summit, which is set to take place in Miami from 8 to 11 February. All Kidscreen Summit delegates will be invited to attend the ceremony and cocktail party as part of their event experience, after registering online at summit.kidscreen.com. Other guests can sign up to attend just the Kidscreen Awards event for $150, beginning in January. Detailed information on eligibility, judging and entering can be found at awards.kidscreen.com. The deadline for entries is 18 September.
