Japan Xbox GM resigns from the post due to poor sales in the country

Takashi Sensui, Xbox general manager in Japan has allegedly quit his post due to dismal sales of the Microsoft console in the Land of Rising Sun. The numbers are nowhere close to its rivals Sony’s PlayStation 4.

Since its launch in September this year, the consoles sales have been grim with Xbox One managing less than 40,000 units in the first three month of which 23,000 units were sold in the first week itself. These numbers are a miniscule as compared to its rivals PS4 and Wii U who have managed to sell 12.4K units and 9.6K respectively.

Sensui will remain at Microsoft and has moved to its US headquarters and will take on the role of General Manager for the Interactive Entertainment Business. He will report to Xbox VP Mike Nichols and provide a link between Xbox’s US and Japan teams.

Xbox One has been behind PS4 for a while and by the look of the numbers, the console doesn’t seem to overtake its rival anytime soon. With the recent news of Microsoft slashing prices for the console, time will only tell how XOne will fare in the coming months.
