Inside Out continues to baffle audience as it bags the Best Animated Film Award at the 69th BAFTA Film Awards held on 14 February, 2016. Along with this, Star Wars: The Force Awakens won the honour in the Special Visual Effects category and Edmond emerged victorious in the British Short Animation category.

Disney Pixar’s Inside Out faced tough competition by Illumination Entertainment’s Minions and Aardman Animations’ Shaun the Sheep Movie in the Best Animated Film category. Pete Docter’s creation of emotions also recently bagged the Annie Awards and has left its mark both in terms of storytelling and style of animation.

The Special Visual Effects category witnessed heavy VFX films like Mad Max: Fury Road, Ant-Man, The Martian, Ex Machina and  Star Wars: The Force Awakens as a part of the nomination race. Though Star Wars won the title, The Revenant won five awards including the Best Film and Mad Max won four awards.

Nina Gantz’s Edmond uses puppets to tell an exemplary tale and went on to lead the race leaving behind Manoman and Prologue that provided a healthy competitionThe National Film and Television School project conveyed an intruding story in a subtle way as compared to its competitive nominees.

The British Academy Awards hosted by BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) promotes the art forms of the moving image by identifying and rewarding excellence and this year too it has continued to maintain its legacy.
