The esteemed American accolade, the 73rd Golden Globe Award, honoured several films and personalities for their extensive performance and innovative creation on 10 January 2016. In these masterpieces, Disney Pixar’s Inside Out bagged the award for the Best Animated Feature overpowering its four tough contenders.
Earlier in December last year, the Golden Globe Awards had announced the nominations in the animated feature category namely Anomalisa, The Peanuts Movie, Shaun the Sheep Movie, The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out. With the last two contenders from the remarkable Disney Pixar, both The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out had a good chance of winning the accolade. And, the chance turned into reality as the latter bagged the award because of its wide response, unique concept and astounding animation which appealed not only to kids but also drew the eyes of a large number of adults.
Directed by Pete Docter and produced by Pixar Animation Studios, Inside Out was released by Walt Disney Pictures on 19 June, 2015. The film grossed $90.4 million in its first weekend itself and further went on to amass $856 million at the box office worldwide. Based on the personification of various emotions like Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger as characters, this film struck the right chord in the viewers across the globe through its dramatic style of storytelling and spellbound animation. The reactions, responses and expressions of various emotions were quite evidently and naturally portrayed through animation as each character profusely justified the emotion it was.
Also, a talented voice cast and music composed by Michael Giacchino added a unique touch to the film to make it more effective. It was surprising to note that the highest grossing animated feature, Minions was not nominated for this accolade. Well, as compared to Minions, Inside Out still stands far behind in the race of revenue generation but probably the art of Disney Pixar Animation worked the magic in its favour to win this honour.
