‘Happy New Year’ wins best VFX at Star Guild Awards

The cast of Happy New Year is in celebration. The movie has won the first ‘Best VFX award’ category for 2015 at the Star Film Producers Guild Awards.

However, the other nominations in the category were not revealed at the ceremony that took place on 11 January and will be telecast on 18 January on general entertainment channel Star Plus. Last year, the category saw a tie between Red Chillies’ Krrish 3 and YRF’s Dhoom 3.

Red Chillies VFX COO and VFX producer Keitan Yadav is delighted on the win. “It feels special to be recognised by the jury and the producers fraternity and this is also our fourth award in the VFX category of the Guild Awards.”

Harry Hingorani, the hands on board the Happy New Year project feels happy that the 2000 shots of the movie which were almost invisible were noticed by the jury. “Associating with Farah Khan has been amazing for us. We’ve also won best VFX awards for Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om as well. Farah is great to work with because she tells us what she wants and then she leaves it to us with complete trust,” he says.

The next award with the VFX category is the Screen Awards but surprisingly the jury seems to have missed out on Happy New Year for it. The films included in the Screen Awards are Kick, Bang Bang, Bhoonath Returns, Singham Returns and PK.
