Guvera launched its music streaming service in India

Australia based music streaming service Guvera has launched its service in India. The company has stated it will be offering 12 million tracks to the users in the country across various popular platforms.

Developed when the rise of illegeal music download was on rise, Guvera will stream music legally and will give royalties to artists and music companies for providing the content.

Guvera is a free, ad-funded service that offers users expert-curated playlists with no cost or subscription fees. The unique feature of the service is #Play, which has the ability to provide tailored content on the user’s mood, activity or music preference by searching using hashtags (#). The social features allow the users to follow friends and celebrities and look in to their playlists.

Guvera, in March 2014 had signed an agreement with Lenovo to become their worldwide music partners and have the Guvera app on the Lenovo laptops and mobile phones preloaded.

In line with the strategy to serve a healthy mix of localized content, Guvera has entered into tie-ups with major music labels and content aggregators in India, including Sony Music, Hungama.com (T-Series & Speed Records), Universal, Saregama, Eros International, Times Music, Believe, Orchard, TuneCore, CDBaby and INGrooves.

Guvera also have an option to subscribe for premium services for on-demand tracks which give the users the full control of their music experience. The premium services are offered for Rs 199 per month.
