Google’s tablet attempts to keep Apple’s away

To counter Apple’s event and make Apple look high and dry, Google announced new range of its Nexus tablet and phone when Apple wanted to make the day its own with the announcement of new range of iPads and Macs.

Both the technology giants have had a long standing battle to capture the audience’s attention and outdo each other in terms of sales and market.

On comparing both the tablets – iPad Air 2 and Nexus 9 – they seem to have similar features.

Nexus 9 sports a 8.9 inch screen, with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels that is at par with the iPad Air 2, with Apple having a size advantage at 9.7 inch.

Both the tablets feature 8 megapixels of primary camera and a 1.6 megapixels of secondary camera. The battery on Nexus is a mammoth 6,700mAh, whereas Apple doesn’t reveal the battery specifications but claims to juice out 9 hours over WiFi similar to what Nexus claims with the said battery. On the processor front the Google powered HTC tablet is stuffed with a 64-bit chip Nvidia Tegra K1 2.3 GHz with a 192-core Kepler GPU processor, a first for the Nexus tablet. The Apple tablet too is powered with a new A8X 64-bit chip with M8 motion coprocessor.

Only one thing that stands apart in the iPad is the Touch ID fingerprint scanner that is built into the home button.

The design war was always a lost cause until now for Google, but with HTC dabbling with the Nexus tablet department as well; it has sort of just evened out. The new tablet from Google looks just dazzling as the iPad with thin bezels and colour options similar to the iPads. This puts both the tablets at par in specs the department.

Also, Google and Apple had more product launches with Google announcing Nexus 6 phone and Apple announcing a new iPad mini 3 with similar specs to the iPad Air 2 and two new iMacs, one being a humongous  27-inch, with resolution of 5120×2880 along with retina display and another being iMac Mini with fast processors and a low price.

A lot has been said over time about tablet sales declining but with the announcement of these two powerhouses coming out with new devices in the category, the fanboys are certain to go gaga leading to long queues outside the stores to grab either one of these beauties.
