Google Play says if you got ads, declare them!

Differentiating between apps and games containing ads and an ad free content is a bit difficult but Google Play Store is making things easy now. Beginning early next year, Google will roll out an update to its store wherein users can check whether the app contains ads or not.

Game and App Developers need to sign into Play Developer Console and declare if their apps contain ads by January 11th, 2016. After this date, any updates one makes on the apps will require this declaration. Non-declaration or misrepresenting ad presence which violates the Google Play Developer Program Policies could lead to suspension.

Ads-supported

Under these ads Google has included banner and interstitials; native ads; and house ads (basically ads to promote the developer’s other apps). This does not include paid product placements or offers for in-app purchases or upgrades.

This function was first discussed at Google’s I/O and was designed and rolled out for ad-supported content in the Families section. But will now be seen on all the applications present in the Play Store. The ad labels will be featured right below the Install button on the app page, so that one does have to really search throughout the app page if it contains ad or not.
