Gaumont will unveil ‘Belle and Sebastian’ at Biarritz Rendez-Vous

Gaumont Animation, which is there in the industry since 1997 is a leading, award-winning producer and distributor of children’s entertainment and now it will be unveiling its latest animated series project Belle and Sebastian at the Biarritz Rendez-Vous.

Originally Belle and Sebastian is the novel Belle et Sébastien by French author Cécile Aubry and revolves around the story of a slightly wild 7-year-old boy from the Alps region and his relationship with a generous dog Belle who got shunned for her enormous size. Over the years the novel has been adapted and was seen in a French live-action television series in 1965, a Japanese anime version nearly two decades later and a motion picture in 2013. Gaumont released the feature adaptation of the story (directed by Nicolas Vanier) that became a sleeper hit taking in $33.7 million worldwide. Now its subsidiary company Gaumont Animation has produced Belle and Sebastian, an animated TV series that consists of 52, 13-minute episodes directed by Lionel Francois and penned by Cecile Aubry.

The Biarritz Rendez-Vous is the local-prods-only market for international buyers put on by TV France in the elegant seaside town, taking place this year from 6- 10 September. In addition to the Belle series, Gaumont will also be offering TF1/Disney Junior commission Calimero (104 new episodes in production), action-adventure series Lanfeust Quest, comedy toon Dude That’s My Ghost, Welcome to Bric-a-Broc and Atomic Puppet. Belle and Sebastian will also be presented at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, 15-18 September.

India is among the 130 countries that showcases Gaumont Animation’s productions. Few of the animated series we have witnessed are Dude, That’s My Ghost, Robotboy, Galactik Football among others.
