Emily Whinnett joins CAKE as new VP creative

EmilyWhinnettLeading kids’ entertainment specialist CAKE has announced the appointment of Chapman Entertainment’s former director of production and development, Emily Whinnett as its new VP creative.

Emily will work closely alongside CAKE creative director and CEO, Tom Van Waveren on the company’s slate of upcoming programming, helping to increase CAKE’s future development output and building on its reputation as a co-producer.

Waveren said: “We are thrilled to have Emily joining our team at CAKE.  2016 will be a big year for CAKE’s co-production and development projects and Emily brings a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to a vital role in our company.”

Emily Whinnett added: “I’m delighted to be joining Tom and his fantastic team at CAKE. With such a varied and exciting development slate, I’m looking forward to getting started!

Having worked in the children’s television industry for over 10 years, Emily is an experienced development executive and producer.  Emily lead the development, production and launch of Chapman Entertainment’s award winning shows; Fifi and the Flowertots and Roary the Racing Car on Nick Jr. and Channel Five’s Milkshake and Little Charley Bear and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion both for CBeebies.

She also produced Peter Kay’s Animated All Star Band – The Official BBC Children in Need Medley 2009, a song which reached number 1 in the charts, raising Ł500,000 for the BBC charity.  Subsequently, Emily joined Belfast based Sixteen South (Lily’s Driftwood Bay) as Head of Development, where she was responsible for all IP development.  Emily also manages her own company Red Squirrel Entertainment, where she has consulted for a variety of clients including Soho Square Productions as Director of Programmes, Spinmaster Entertainment as part of the development team for Paw Patrol and Keith Chapman Productions on a variety of projects.
