DreamWorks unveils VR experience for Gear VR

Virtual reality an exciting platform has been in news for quite a while. The headsets for consumers which are set to flood the market early next year, currently only have Samsung Gear VR to experience the immersive experience. VR market is set to have content from all corners and not only games. DreamWorks Animation recently announced that its DreamLab division will enter the VR space with DreamWork VR platform for Gear VR smartphone-based VR head-mounted display (HMD).

DreamWorks launched three pieces of content during the launch, the first being a twenty year retrospective piece on the studio entitled ’20 Years of Dreams And Laughter’ which was previously revealed last year, other two being feature specific film experiences – one of them a recent release Home and another an interactive experience for Madagascar spin-off Penguins of Madagascar.

The ‘interactive theatre trailer’ experiences are free to download and are also available on both versions of the Gear VR platform.

“Our goal is to make sure that everyone has a memorable and fun first time for their VR experiences,” said DreamLabs, head, Brad Herman, during the reveal of DreamWorks VR platform.

Additional content is promised to come in the future with likely contenders being the Dragons franchise following on from DreamWorks’ Dragon Flight promotional VR ride made to promote How To Train Your Dragon 2. The Dragon Flight VR experience took a combination of 30 people over 13 weeks to put together.
