DreamWorks to get Lehane’s next novel ‘Since We Fell’ on the big screen

DreamWorks has acquired the rights to Dennis Lehane’s upcoming novel ‘Since We Fell’ which is due next fall after which Lehane will work on the screenplay of the film. It seems there was a heated bidding war last summer as several studios were vying for the rights but DreamWorks successfully nabbed the notable author.

After films adapted from his novels like Shutter Island, Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River, Dennis Lehane is in process to give the industry another film from his next novel. As the American author is still writing the novel, the details of the plot are not unveiled. However, the novel is described as a ‘Hitchcockian suburban thriller set in Boston’. Bearing in mind the mysterious plot of the epic movie Shutter Island, we can expect his forthcoming novel Since We Fell to be a journey revealing the thriller suspense step by step.

Both Lehane’s thought provoking books and films have amassed great response, critical acclaim and commercial success. Lehane has been focussing on adapting his own novels like the Fox Searchlight’s crime drama The Drop and developing a television show based on his best-selling novel ‘Shutter Island’ for HBO and Paramount Television. Besides, he has also been writing scripts like three episodes of The Wire, remake of The Prophet and the upcoming Travis McGee picture The Deep Blue Good-By.

With much to expect from the creative author, DremaWorks by nabbing the rights has kept up to its standard of producing films that have left a mark on the audience. So, by 2016 we hope to read the author’s work in print as well as watch it on the big screen.
