Jennifer Yuh made waves in Hollywood when she became the first woman to helm a big project single handedly. She was also to handle Kung Fu Panda 3, but not alone now.
As per a report by Deadline, Alessandro Carloni has been got on board to assist Jennifer in the third installment of the franchise. Sources have suggested that Jennifer had asked for Alessandro to join her as co-director and DreamWorks Animation (DWA) agreed.
The main reason for getting him on board is to ensure the timely delivery of the movie. The studio wanted to get the movie done in time to have a strong promotional campaign to be rolled out before launch.
In its latest quarterly and yearly result, DWA has posted severe losses due to its movie Penguins of Madagascar. It reported a 3.2 per cent less revenue for 2014 as compared to 2013. It also took tough restructuring measures at all levels, including a change in leadership and several people being asked to leave the company.
Due to poor fourth quarter results that showed a $263.2 million loss, it is also selling its headquarters in Glendale for $185 million. DWA CFO Fazal Merchant told analysts in a conference call that ‘having a large unencumbered piece of real estate on the balance sheet just doesn’t make sense.’ The sale of its property along with other cost saving initiatives will supposedly boost its cash up by about $235 million.
