‘Double Happy vs The Infinite Sadness: Pharos’ teaser bags Bronze at AEAF

The Moneystack and 2xcubed teams are on cloud nine as their first teaser of the upcoming adventure game Double Happy vs. The Infinite Sadness: Pharos has been awarded with a Bronze in the Game Cinematic Category at Australian Effects and Animation Festival, 2014.

The winners for this category were announced by Digital Media World at a ceremony in Sydney. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Trailer and Civilization-Brave New World won Gold and Silver respectively.

The AEAF Awards, now in its 18th year, is an international competition and screening of creative and technical excellence in the use of visual effects and animation. Past winners also include Dreamworks, Weta Digital and Plastic Wax Animation.

“This teaser is the first polished part of the game that we have released in to the wild. So an award like this is absolutely fantastic. It’s a nod that we are heating in the right direction,” said Double Happy co-creator and Director, 2xcubed, Justin Wight.

Double Happy vs. The Infinite Sadness: Pharos is a hybrid adventure which takes atmospheric cues from other quirky comedic games such as Machinarium and odd world, with “single player co-op” controls reminiscent of brothers: A tale of two sons. It tells a story about the healing power of cosmic randomness, where inane good cheer may be the only antitode to destruction being wrought by The Infinite Sadness.

The game is currently pre-alpha. 2xcubed is aiming for a 2016 release on console and PC.
