Disney Infinity’s journey comes to an end as company releases comprehensive schedule for its closure

It was already a known fact that Disney was on the verge of shutting down its toys-to-life video game, Disney Infinity after they shut down Avalanche Studios. Now, the company is set to shut down its online servers. The whole process would be carried over the next eight months.

Disney has already put a stop to in-game purchases over the PC version of Disney Infinity 2.0 and the Android, Apple TV and iOS versions of the game. However, Disney has stated that the console version of the game would still work normally excluding community content features and online multiplayer services.

After 30 September, the PC, iOS and Android versions of the game will no longer be playable and on the same date, the community team will stop accepting and approving new content like toy box creations, although Apple TV Windows 8 or 10 players will still be able to download the existing boxes till 3 March. Apple TV players will still be able to access the game, but it would be removed from the actual Apple Store, while Disney Infinity 2.0and 3.0 will remain available on Steam, except the community feature.

Ingame purchases will disappear from Windows 8 and 10 by 3 January and the big farewell comes on 3 March, 2017 when the Apple TV or Windows versions of the game would be disabled, including any online instalments.

The console versions of the game would still be playable indefinitely, although without any online or community features.

Disney Infinity had once turned the gaming business profitable for the company single-handedly and became immensely popular among Disney fans, but as they say, “All good things must come to an end”.
