DC Thomson Consumer Products outlines ambitions ahead of Brand Licensing Europe 2014

DC Thomson Consumer Products will be presenting exciting global opportunities for its rich portfolio of iconic brands and its unique offering as a licensee of third party properties at Brand Licensing Europe 2014.

The Beano and its star characters Dennis the Menace, Gnasher and Minnie the Minx will lead the licensor’s presentation slate, which will also include the classic magazine property Jackie and food brand Maw Broon’s Kitchen. DC Thomson Consumer Products will be unveiling exciting licensing opportunities for its classic portfolio at the show with the ambition to establish its brands in additional international territories and across new demographics. And, as part of its exclusive BLE activity, the licensor will reveal innovative developments for iconic property; The Beano which will see characters Dennis the Menace and Gnasher expand into the digital market and additionally support the launch of a multi-platform consumer marketing event.

DC Thomson head of brands Tim Collins said in a statement: “It’s been a strong year at DC Thomson, so we’re incredibly excited to update the industry on key developments and present our ambitions at this year’s show. We will be using BLE as a platform to promote our unique dual position as a licensor of iconic publishing brands, and as a third party licensee. It will be a great opportunity to showcase the real potential of our core portfolio and to discuss our plans for growth beyond the UK to new and existing partners.”

With the ambition to develop its third party licensed magazine business, in 2014 DC Thomson Consumer Products will be looking for new partners and brands to work with across its wide portfolio of magazines and comics, both in print and digital formats. The company has licenses with WWE, Jacqueline Wilson and has previously partnered with top brand owners including; LEGO, Aardman, London 2012 and Nintendo.  As one of the UK’s leading publishers of children’s content, in 2014, the team was extended to include the role of Publisher for its children’s magazines and will be at BLE 2014 to showcase its in-house expertise and commercial opportunities to potential partners.  DC Thomson also publishes a variety of women’s weekly magazines and Puzzler Media’s puzzle magazine range.
