Daniel Bruhl confirms his villainous Baron Zemo role in Captain America: Civil War

Rush actor Daniel Bruhl, has been given responsibility of bring the classic villain, Baron Zemo, to the big screen for the Captain America: Civil War. Director duo Anthony and Joe Russo return to helm the film with Chris Evans back as the beloved Cap, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. Crossbones will be reprised by Frank Grillo and Black Panther by Chadwick Boseman.

In comics, Baron Zemo has two incarnations, first Baron Zemo was Heinrich Zemo, a Nazi scientist which Captain America fights during the World War 2 and ultimately kills him. In Civil War, Daniel will play Hemut Zemo, son to original Baron Zemo who’ll be looking out for revenge against the Cap.

“I think I can tell you that without being thrown into Marvel prison … ,” said Daniel to Ace Showbiz.

“For the first few days I’ll walk around like a little boy, just amazed by the megalomania of it. It’s such a huge project. We could do 20 films with the budget.”

Baron Zemo is disfigured and wears a hood permanently to cover his face. One of the fierce foes of Captain America, he is also credited with forming the Masters of Evil, the super villain response to The Avengers.

His villainous character is rumoured to have a smaller role in the upcoming third Captain America movie before later returning to take the role of a primary antagonist in a Doctor Strange stand-alone movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Civil War will hit theatres on 6 May, 2016.
