At D23 Expo it was announced that Disneyland will be coming with Star Wars land zone where guests will be transported in the Star Wars universe. And we have also been hearing the news about Shanghai Disneyland that’s set to open in June and now with Disneyland completing its 60 years, fans will finally catch a glimpse of both the Star Wars zone and Shanghai park on the upcoming ABC special.
Disney released a promo video of the upcoming two hour TV special The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 celebrating 60th anniversary of the Anaheim theme park. In the 30 second video, we catch glimpse of what to expect from the the TV special where many singers will be seen performing along with Disney legends showcasing their talent. At the same time, Disney will reveal exclusive preview of Disneyland Shanghai and the Star Wars zone. We can expect some new announcements as well as Disney teases of more announcements being made during the show.
The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 will feature umpteen guests, including Fall Out Boy performing I Wanna Be Like You from The Jungle Book, Ne-Yo singing Friend Like Me from Aladdin, and a cappella group Pentatonix singing Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast, among other performances.
Derek Hough, will be serving as the emcee and will be singing and dancing to the tunes of Step in Time from Mary Poppins. Along with these, other guests include, Josh Gad (the voice of Olaf in Frozen),Tori Kelly, Maddie Ziegler, Hilary Duff, Sofia Carson, Kerry Washington, Jessie J, Sabrina Carpenter, Dick Van Dyke, Neil Patrick Harris, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jimmy Kimmel, Nolan Gould, Bryce Dallas Howard, Kelsea Ballerini, John Stamos and Helen Mirren.
Fans will also have the opportunity to experience some of the specials via virtual reality as viewers can join in the celebration where they are virtually transported to Sleeping Beauty Castle for a concert and to Main Street, U.S.A. for a very special dance routine. The full VR experience can be accessed through the Jaunt app and the VR elements can also be viewed in a 360 degree video on ABC website.
The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 is set to air on ABC on 21 February 2016.
