Call of Duty: Black Op 3 brings co-op campaign to the fore; Beta expected soon

Activision and Treyarch finally put an end to the rumours that have filled the internet about Call of Duty: Black Op 3 with the trailer released last night which explains a lot of things about the game and what one can expect when it hits stores come 6 November. The Beta access will be available to the ones who pre-order the game.

The trailer opens with the track ‘Paint it, Black’ by Rolling Stones, with the helicopters carrying off a bunker and wounded soldiers being lugged and smoke all around. Welcome to the world of Black Ops. The series is one of the best from the Call of Duty franchise – in terms of its storyline and Treyarch has done a wonderful job by re-inventing each game with new innovations.

With three studios churning out annual Call of Duty games, Treyarch had three years to complete the game instead of the usual two and it has revamped the franchise completely. With rumours suggesting a co-op campaign, it has come true. Black Ops 3 is set 25 years post Black Op 2 and new characters have been introduced adding a new flavour to the storyline with bio-netics coming into play and players able to run through walls and jump/slide combining the moves seamlessly and firing at the same time.

The multiplayer gameplay too has seen changes with a specialist feature being added which will allow the players to choose and customise their characters of the nine soldiers available – out of which five have been revealed as of now – with more to be revealed on a later date.

The infantry specialist – Donnie “Ruin” Walsh – whose specialty is a pair of gravity spikes; that allow him to deal damage to enemies by planting them into the ground that leads to dents in the area-of-effect. He has a speed boost which is limited for some time that allows him to quickly capture objective points. Alessandra “Outrider” Castillo is a Brazilian scout with a compound bow and explosive arrows her weapons, and the ability to scan environments revealing the position of nearby enemies.

Zhen Zhen, is a one-shot-kill hand cannon capable of taking out several enemies with one bullet, and with her ability – Combat Focus – she gets a multiplier on kills and achievements, allowing her to reach score streaks faster. The robot named Reaper takes the meat away with his Scythe weapon which he can transform its arm into a mini-gun. He also has the ability to hack into the cybernetic control systems of other players, resetting their internal clocks and flash himself back in time, bringing him back to life.

Each specialist has unique Power Weapons and Power Abilities, which can be called on during matches, but both can’t be used during the same match.

The PC version of the game will be given a priority as the studio claims that the high end rigs will have a much better resolution, which can then be scaled down to match the low powered PCs as well.

The zombie mode is definitely on as seen from the last scene of the trailer but more on this and the game will be revealed in June at the E3 games event when the game will be made available for a preview.
