Boomerang launches Boomerang Watch and Play giving a new digital experience in Asia Pacific

Boomerang has launched a new mobile app Boomerang Watch and Play which shall allow users to simultaneously watch video from their favorite animated content and play games. With a simple rotation of the tablet, multi-taskers can also switch between the functions in full screen mode. This app shall be available throughout Southeast Asia and Australia.

Complementing the app, Boomerang’s new-look websites have gone online today with the creation of new websites for markets in Asia and Australia. The sites shall now act as the official home for the channel’s games and video content and shall be fully responsive to mobile device viewing.

Mark Eyers, chief content officer, Kids Networks, at Turner International Asia Pacific said that Boomerang Watch and Play shall  offer the latest generation of digital natives the chance to enjoy the very best kids’ franchises wherever they are and in a safe and flexible way. Backed up by awesome-looking new websites, the app shall provide a second screen extension to enhance the traditional linear experience.

Boomerang Watch and Play shall come loaded with hundreds of clips, episodes and a stack of games. The network’s most popular shows include The Tom and Jerry Show, The Garfield Show, Inspector Gadget and Mr. Bean: The Animated Series. Upcoming premieres include Be Cool Scooby-Doo! and the brand new series Wabbit – A Looney Tunes Production.

Free to download, Boomerang Watch and Play is currently available in English through the App Store for iPads, and through Google Play Store for Android-powered tablets. A smartphone version is currently in development.

The app is also said to be built with an authentication function which, if Boomerang pay-TV platform partners choose to initiate, offers in addition, a live stream of the Boomerang channel and an expanded VOD selection. This functionality shall  be the same as the hugely popular Cartoon Network Watch and Play app, which launched in late 2013 and has already been downloaded almost 650,000 times, accumulating more than 24 million video views in less than two years.
