‘Arrival’ trailer uses VFX as it intends to communicate in an alien language

The responsibility of bridging a relation with the unknown often lies on the shoulders of ‘communication’. If you frequently travel to unknown places you would agree with the fact that language is the utmost unavoidable barrier that one faces. Communication opens the windows to various horizons and thus cannot or rather should not be avoided when you intend to bridge the gap.

Director Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming sci-fi film Arrival features the power of communication to help make a connect with the extra terrestrial beings. Understanding the language of aliens to understand the purpose of their existence might just lead to understanding the key to survival in this film.

With the arrival of UFO across the earth, Dr. Louise Banks played by Amy Adams serves as the linguist to acknowledge, decode, translate and understand the alien language. Whether to use violence or peace, weapons or tools, action or reaction against these aliens lies in the hands of humans.

The creation of the UFO seems quite quirky unlike the usual distinct spacecrafts and electronic devices seen in a sci-fi film. The ecosystem surrounding the UFO looks quite appealing for an alien adventure film. The VFX is done by Hybride, Alchemy 24, MELS Studios, Oblique FX, Framestore and a couple of other studios delivering various sections. As it is a sci-fi film,  VFX will definitely play a crucial role to create what does not belong to the earth.

An adaptation of Ted Chiang’s Story of Your Life, the film stars Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker. Written by Eric Heisserer, Arrival will be released by Paramount Pictures on 11 November, 2016.
