Apple announces World AIDS day Campaign

Apple in a bid to help fight the deadly virus of AIDS has announced a two week campaign and will donate a part of its online as well as retail sales to the charity RED foundation’s Global Fund.

This will be the biggest fundraising push from the company towards the foundation which has been behind the campaign since 2006. Apple has also exclusively tied up with a lot of developers to come up with special edition of Apps for Red wherein you purchase the game or there are some in-game app purchases through which the revenues will go directly to the foundation.

“Apple is a proud supporter of (RED) because we believe the gift of life is the most important gift anyone can give,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a company press release.

On Black Friday, Apple will give customers (RED) iTunes gift cards with purchase of an iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod, Apple TV, or Apple Beats. Gift cards will be limited to two per household for those buying iPhone 6 or 6 Plus.

Apple will also offer more than two dozen apps, including FIFA 14Angry Birds, Clash of ClansCut the Rope 2 and many more that feature exclusive (RED) content. For example, users in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood will be able to use (RED) products including Beats headphones. Star Walk 2 users will be able to learn more about Mars with a new RED planet feature. These special edition apps will be available in a separate section in the App Store from Monday, 24 November to Sunday, 7 December, and all proceeds will go to Global Fund.
