Angry Birds 2 passes the ‘10 million download’ mark

The fuming aerial creatures are back and they seem to have taken a long flight back in to your mobile phones. Developer Rovio’s sequel to its original game Angry Birds has just landed and it seems to have driven mobile phone gamers into frenzy. Today, with the functioning of a game or an app in mobile industry has changed a lot since the time Rovio released Angry Birds and it is reflecting on the game.

The game has surpassed the 10 million download mark in just 5 days, a mark which says a lot of the how badly Rovio wanted to get those download numbers for its new game. But being a freemium game, it was bound to have such numbers on the board but Rovio has not announced how much of real money is being spent by these 10 million people on the game. The app is currently sitting in the Top 20 in ‘Free Category’ on the Google Play Store and on No. 2 on Apple App Store.

The entire Angry Birds franchise has tallied more than 1 billion downloads since it originally debuted in 2009.

The basic gameplay is more or less the same, with one having to fling birds on the pigs who are sitting atop poorly constructed structures. But, this being a freemium game, Rovio has added a number of features that will explore the idea of users putting their hands into their wallets for more gameplay.

Unlike the prequel, this time you have to be content with three lives to complete your levels and if you run out of lives, you will either have to wait for 30 minutes for them to replenish or use 60 gems which cost $0.99 (you get 80 gems at the start of the game).  But here you do get to choose which birds you want to toss around. The game does have bigger bundle of gems which one can purchase, but since there are a limited number of lives that one can complete a level with, this will be annoying for gamers to wait or spend money on it.

The new changes in the game are the newer objects and the spells which one can cast to survive in the dying moments of the game after trying to clear a stage for 135th time. Another change in Angry Birds 2 is the environments, which now have a multi-area layout. Boss battles have been introduced, wherein you can brawl with Foreman, Chef and King Pigs who won’t easily let you of and you would have to break a sweat or two to get past them.
