Nazara Games, the mobile games developer, will be publishing games based on Amar Chitra Katha (ACK) and Tinkle’s well-known characters, according to a report in Economic Times.

nazaraACK Media, CEO, Manas Mohan said, “We would like to see gaming revenues contribute anything between 5 and 10 per cent of our total revenues in two years from now. Gaming will give us a certain margin to invest more into customer contact programmes and grow our brands.”

ACK has a bunch of legendary characters in its artillery, but which ones will be tapped to create games is still unknown. But Manas said that the games would be out in the market in the next six months.

Tinkle characters like Suppandi, Kalia the crow, Tantri the Mantri and Shikari Shambu have already garnered a huge appeal and created a special place in the hearts of comic lovers. And with Nazara coming into the picture, both the gaming ecosystem and the comic space will draw more attention in terms of personnel and finance.

Of lately, Nazara have been aggressive with its recent games be it Green Gold’s Chhota Bheem IP and Zeptolab’s Cut the Rope, all have worked in its favour and helped to expand its reach in the mobile gaming industry. Therefore, this venture of Nazara in the comic space will definitely lead to the creation of a game of probably highest downloads and profound quality.

Talking on this new partnership Nazara Games, CEO Manish Agarwal said, “The comic brands were started by Mr. Anant Pai in an attempt to teach Indian children about their cultural heritage. We wish to honour  his vision by giving today’s generation the taste of Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle in   a contemporary, and by far the most popular, medium today…  i.e. mobile gaming.”  He added, “It is not just restricted to the young generation. People in India who have grown up on Supandi, Shambu, etc. will also relate to these games.”

“Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle have created an entire universe of stories that have been loved by several generations of Indians. And our stories lend themselves to be adapted easily across media. We are convinced that our association with Nazara, widely accepted as the best in their business, will open up a whole new world for millions of kids and adults to interact with our characters, and with stories from our glorious heritage”, Manas further added.
