Alto’s Adventure to come to Android on 11 February

The beautiful mobile game Alto’s Adventure, landed on iOS last year and now is all set to enter the world of Android and Kindle Fire devices next week for free. Developed by Snowman, the game was appreciated for its beautiful visuals, unique gameplay and lovely soundtrack.

A skiing mobile game, Alto’s Adventure is priced at Rs 190 on Apple App Store but will come to Android for free for a number of reasons, cited developer Ryan Cash from Snowman. “After playing games such as Crossy Road and Threes! Free we began to understand that free-to-play can be done in a very tasteful and respectful manner.”

Publishers of games like Ready Steady Bang and Super Stickman Golf, Noodlecake has partnered with Snowman for the port. “We thought long and hard with Noodlecake about how we could best monetize the game – to launch as a premium title (like on iOS), or to explore other alternatives that stayed true to our core values and vision for the game,” Snowman’s Ryan Cash said.

Cash also noted the Monument Valley example that developer Ustwo Games gave via an infographic where only 5 per cent of the game’s install base paid for the game. “We also heard about the crazy levels of piracy on Android (thanks in part to Ustwo Games’ incredibly insightful Monument Valley infographic), and wanted to ensure that Alto’s Adventure could be as accessible as possible for everyone, while still being good for business,” said Cash.

The game will remain paid for iOS users but the free version on Android will be providing with the same experience as an iOS device. Snowman will attempt to compensate for the money it doesn’t receive upfront on Android by providing “opt-in bonuses for players who might need a little extra help” or in simpler words, in-app purchases.
