9 Story Media Group enters the Chinese market

9 Story Media Group has entered into an agreement with Beijing Sunshine Culture and Communication, a leading Chinese media company. Under the terms of the deal, Sunshine has taken all rights within the territory for the award winning preschool series, Peg + Cat (80 x 11’) and Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood (130 x 11’).

“We are thrilled to partner with Sunshine on Peg + Cat and Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood,” said 9 Story Media Group MD Natalie Osborne. “This marks our first major foray into China, and represents a tremendous growth opportunity for our brands. We look forward to bringing our great content to the territory across Sunshine’s strong network of partners.” 

Both Peg + Cat and Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood are co-productions with The Fred Rogers Company for PBS KIDS.

Peg + Cat launched on PBS KIDS in 2013 and has also been acquired by Treehouse (Canada), TFO (French-speaking Ontario), Télé-Québec (Quebec), Canal+ Family together (France and French speaking territories), CSC (UK), TG4 (Ireland), Super RTL (Germany and German-speaking Europe), YLE (Finland), SVT (Sweden), Discovery Kids (Latin America), ABC TV Australia, TVNZ (New Zealand), Disney (Korea), True Visions (Thailand), Hop TV (Israel), Mini-Mini (Poland), E-Junior (UAE), Zee Learn (India), RTP(Portugal) and MBC Kids (UAE).

Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood launched in 2012 on PBS KIDS in the US and CBC in Canada.  It has also been licensed to SRC (French Canada), Disney (Russia, South East Asia, Latin America), ABC (Australia), TVNZ (New Zealand), Canal+ Family (France and French speaking territories), France Télévisions, Super RTL (Germany), Nickelodeon Jr. (Italy), YLE (Finland), NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden), Luk International (Spain and Portugal), Hop TV (Israel), Zee Learn (Indian Subcontinent), E Junior (Middle East), True Visions (Thailand), JEI TV (Korea) and Minika (Turkey).
