However, there have not been many women in the limelight in the filmmaking industry’s technical side like direction or cinematography or editing. This is not due to a lack of talent, but due to lack of opportunity. MAAC Anna Nagar aims at giving that opportunity to upcoming women filmmakers so that their talent is acknowledged.”

Mr. Shajan Samuel Sr. Vice President MAAC (India) commented, “MAAC Annanagar has been doing several innovative activities to establish new age media as a mainstream career. Now is the time where conventional careers have been challenged by people who think differently and are willing to dissect the status quo. It’s no different in the movie making Industry as well. Two of India’s hit movies in 2012 were directed by female filmmakers, English Vinglish by Gauri Shinde and Talaash by Reema Kagti.

In order to make these celebrations eponymous MAAC Annanagar pays a tribute to the liberated, women of India by celebrating International Women’s Day with the announcement of a movie making competition “Script to Screen”.
