Want to know about the ins and outs and prime secrets behind creating engaging Character Design, Visual Development and Story? Then this upcoming workshop by TASI has it all for you!!!

The Animation Society of India [TASI] is all set to start off 2013 with its very first workshop of this year titled ‘An Encounter with Concept Artist Manoj Menon.’

Slated on the 12th this month at Bangalore, this workshop will help the attendees to understand the thought process and skill set that goes into creating a well crafted art/design for animation production and some of the tips and tricks to make their ideas more effective and relevant.

This workshop welcomes attendees who have a keen interest in art and design by itself or as a part of the larger fields of animation and filmmaking.

One of the leading artists in the Animation Industry, Manoj Menon, with 15 years of experience in the animation industry, will demonstrate some of the skills and ideas behind creating appealing artwork. In this seminar cum hands-on demonstration by Manoj, he will be sharing his views and thoughts on how a good story should be constructed, how a designer should approach the design and why visual development is a crucial aspect in story telling.

Speaking to Animationxpress.com’s Zeenia Boatwala about this session, Manoj Menon, says, “Tasi has indeed been doing some great workshops and classes throughout the country. I take this chance to thank the organizers and I am more than happy to contribute further in making this industry prosper.

When Tasi approached me for this workshop, I considered it as a great opportunity of spending time with such a fabulous community I’m excited to present my thoughts and hear back from everyone who will be attending the event. It would be a lot of learning for the attendees.”

Manoj, in his session, will spotlight the importance of how a story idea is conceived, pitched and perfected before it’s ready to get moulded into a script. “My topics will cover, story telling with apt importance to beats and techniques to omit the overdose.

In simple words, I would love to explain the process which established studios do to achieve a good animated universal content.” Informs, Manoj

Expressing thoughts on this workshop, Jai Natarajan, Committee Member, TASI, shares, “Manoj is a very experienced and interesting artist who is also a good speaker. He has the ability to back up his theoretical inputs with on the spot display of those concepts, which makes it very lively and useful for viewers. TASI is successful because of the participation and support of the entire community. We believe that the community is greater than any individual interests and invite all the interested people in and around Bangalore to attend and make use of this great opportunity to grow their knowledge and improve their exposure by partaking of this effort by a leading artist in the industry.”

The workshop on the 12th of this month will be held at Jain Animation School at Jayanagar, Bangalore from 9 am to 2 pm. Interested participants will have to be present at 8 30 in the morning for registering on the spot. This workshop is free for all the TASI Members and Non TASI members will have to pay a particular fee which is INR 100 for Students and INR 200 for Professionals.

Revealing more about 2013 plans by TASI, Jai, highlights, “This is the kickoff event for 2013 and it happens to be in Bangalore. TASI is working hard to manage and maintain its pace of events every few weeks, expanding from the traditional base in Mumbai. We are aiming to multi task and spread even more events all over India, as has been happening in the past 18 months with our involvement in Pune, Jaipur, etc. We call upon enthusiasts everywhere to come forward to help with logistics, venues and operations so that we can concentrate on lining up high quality content. Of course the highlight will be Anifest India as always, but we are increasingly receiving requests to create one more flagship event in another part of India, so this will be an area we will be working on, though it depends very much on what support we receive. Stay tuned! But also we want everyone to tune in and be an active member and not just a passive participant!”
