Says Navin Shah CEO, Percept Picture Company, ""8" is a smart trendy horror film which is youth oriented. There are two reasons that we got associated with Wilson Louis for this film, first being his directorial and storytelling prowess and the second being his VFX background. Since 8 is a horror film it goes unsaid that it will have a lot of VFX and we couldn't have found a better director than Wilson for it."

Talking about the association with Percept, Wilson shares, "I was approached by PPC as they were looking for making movies in horror genre and I am probably the only horror guy around. Horror movies have a huge market if they are made and marketed in the right way. And that's where associating with a brand like Percept will help immensely in marketing the film and taking it to the masses."

Wilson Louis who has been in the VFX space for the last 15 years working with studios like CMM Studios and MEL amongst others and he currently has his hands full with movies. Wilson is directing three movies namely Beyond Dream Entertainment's Kaalo, Morpheus Media Ventures' Shout and Percept's 8. The VFX supervision for all three would also be done by him. Interestingly all these movies are of horror genre and the concepts for all of them have been developed by Wilson.

Does the love of horror stem from the fact that they have a huge scope of VFX we ask, to which Wilson replied, "No, I love horror and I want to explore different genres within the horror space. Storytelling is my forte and that's what I am concentrating on. But yes my technical expertise in VFX is helping me enhance it. In the long run I plan to establish my own company that would be dedicated to making horror films."

The work on Kaalo is almost complete and the movie is expected to release in Oct '09. Kaalo will be a creature based live action cum animation film which has been shot in the deserts of Rajasthan. The VFX and CG work of the movie has been done at the in house studio of Wilson Louis Films.

While the shooting of Shout is 60% complete, the shooting for 8 will commence from Sept '09 and it will have a straight 40 days schedule, followed by a 2 month post production schedule. In terms of VFX, 8 would have lot of stylizing of sequences, transitions, ghost layers and some never seen before camera work.

Sharing his experience of dawning both directorial and VFX Sup. cap Wilson shares, "It really helps, because I have complete knowledge of what I am doing while I am shooting and how it will be treated in post. It also helps in budgeting the movie right, as I have been in this trade and I know how much a particular service costs so we cannot be taken for a ride there. Even while developing concepts there are no barriers as such in my mind because I know with the help of CG today everything is doable."

"The only flipside to the whole thing is that the producer saves money that he would have otherwise spent on hiring a VFX Supervisor." He jokes.
