now Ram…
The Indian animation market, which
is growing at a fast pace and has seen a number of mythological
animated flicks hitting the silver screen in the past few years,
is now all set to see a new mytho animated super hero.
Mumbai-based animation production
major Maya Entertainment Limited (MEL) has announced its upcoming
3D animated feature Ramayana - The Epic, slated for an early
2009 release. This announcement was made at Mumbai press conference
on Friday noon.
Portraying all chapters of one of
the biggest Indian epics - Ramayana, the movie will feature the
voices of popular Bollywood actors and actresses including Manoj
Bajpai as Ram, Juhi Chawla as Sita, Mukesh Rishi as
Hanuman and Ashutosh Rana as Ravan.

Directed by Chetan Desai, the movie
is written by Rituraj Ramendra Tripathi whereas the music and sound
has been designed by Shaarang Dev Pandit, son of Indian classical
music stalwart Pandit Jasraj.
Commenting on her role in the movie,
Juhi said, "I have grown up on comics and have learnt a lot
about Indian mythology from Amar Chitra Katha. I am very
exited about my role in the movie. Doing the voice-over for Sita
has been an enriching experience."
Speaking at the press con about the
movie, Chetan said, "All of us have grown up reading or listening
to one or the other mythological tale… so somewhere in our minds
we have adapted to such story telling techniques."
"Ramayana - The Epic
is the biggest a legend can get, and to show this legend, a canvas
of extraordinary scale is necessary. We have tried to be as historically
accurate as possible, to continue this heritage. The animation rendered
in the movie is of a superior quality," Chetan added.
MEL Executive Vice President (Business
