One always
imagines the cinematic realm of martial-arts as defined by Bruce Lee
or Jackie Chan films. But move over champs, Po, the panda is here.
Voiced by Jack Black and driven by sheer "awesomeness",
this big… err huge… rather colossal pudgy creature pulls of some tricks
that are going to make the viewers roll on the floor with laughter.
Po
works as a waiter at his father's (who happens to be a duck) noodle
joint, all the while harboring a secret desire to be a kung fu master.
He is a total fan of the legendary kung fu fighters, the 'Furious
Five' which include the Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Viper (Lucy Liu),
Mantis (Seth Rogen), Crane (David Cross) and Monkey (Jackie Chan).
Po fantasizes of fighting battles of glory alongside them, but does
badly to being with. However, destiny lands Po into a soupy yet
opportunistic situation and he is chosen as the 'Dragon Warrior'
by Master Oogaway (Randall Duk Kim), a rather philosophical turtle
who believes that Po would save the village from the wrath of baddy
Tai Lung (Ian McShane). Now, to make this inane prophecy come true,
much against everyone's will, Po has to train along with 'Furious
Five' under Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman). To know more about the

Kung
Fu Panda is directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne and
scripted by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. Together, this team
has created not only a thoroughly entertaining feature, but also
a film laden with strong subtext, which comes out beautifully in
the dialogue, "There is no secret ingredient. To make something
special you have to believe its special." Kudos to these guys
for creating such engaging and riotous sequences that transcend
the usual slapstick humor in many other 'funny' films.
As
far as the animation is concerned, Kung Fu Panda is a marvelous
feat. The eye for detail is mind-blowing throughout the film, be
it the action sequences or even the manner in which the China's
vividness is captured in colour. It's fascinating to watch the Crouching
Tiger Hidden Dragon type stunts animated on-screen. To one's
amazement the film begins in a very anime-ish style, which exhibits
something never seen before in a 3D animation film. The film is
a great watch with something for all age groups and especially for
animation enthusiasts do not miss this one!
