methodology. The curriculum will now be taught in a different way
so as to provide the students holistic education in animation. The
new methodology being adopted is termed the Holistic Animation Training
(HAT).

The
HAT methodology encompasses all the aspects of animation development
and makes the student go through the entire animation production
pipeline including design visualization and pre production. Emphasis
is given on story, screenplay, script, sketching, drawing and other
creative dimensions like acting, direction, music, costumes, background
and critical analysis.
The
franchise has organized a series of seminars named ‘HAT-Tricks’
for the purpose of taking the concept forward by concentrating on
the aspect of visualization and creativity in animation and related
fields. The first seminar will be on the topic: ‘Creativity and
visualization in graphic designing’ by Shilpi Chauhan Chakraborty,
an NID alumnus, on June 20, 2008 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata.
“This
methodology disengages the student’s mindset from mere tool or software
leanings. It teaches them to use software as a tool to achieve their
objective and not as the objective itself – a common mistake made
by most training schools in India,” Ruia added.
“Through
this methodology, Arena Animation aims to hone the creativity of
the students, bring out their latent talent and train them according
to industry standards to make them ‘placement ready’ candidates,”
said Ruia.
