Bangalore
based ToonSkool is introducing its BSc course in Animation in association
with the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) at three new centres
Pune, Nashik and Goa. The course will emphasize on traditional as
well as 3D animation.
For
the launch of these centres, ToonSkool has associated with DES Fergusson
College(JRVGTI) in Pune, Anifin in Nashik and Art and Animation
Academy (AAA) in Goa.
Talking
to AnimationXpress.com ToonSkool MD Ashwin Ajila shared,
“If you look at the Indian scenario, animation institutes are located
in every part of the country. We feel that it is appropriate to
have institutes in cities where we can teach animation to local
people who know the culture.”

applying for the course have to be 10+2 pass in any stream and they
are tested for their aptitude and creative, visualization and observation
skills.

within the animation industry, who have sound knowledge of the industry's
requirements. Before induction, the faculty members are tested thoroughly
for their inclination to teach, ability to communicate and updated
knowledge,” added Ajila. Students completing the program will have
a portfolio and will be assisted in placements through in-campus
interviews.
When
asked about the reason for establishing a BSc in animation in Goa,
AAA’s Francis D’Costa said, “I believe that the future of animation
in Goa is good, as the state has an artistic culture.”
“With
Karnataka State Open University's BSc in Animation, the Indian animation
industry will get industry ready professionals. This bachelor’s
degree will not only assure placement but will also nurture creativity.
With this collaboration we will have international quality education
in animation,” added Nashik Anifin Head Prakash Deobhankar.
Regarding
expectations from the tie-up, Ajila said, “Today, the animation
industry’s trajectory is similar to that of a nascent software industry.
When the software industry achieved critical mass, employers began
to select talent based on academic qualifications. The animation
industry will soon be at that juncture, and students with ToonSkool’s
BSc Animation will get recognition.”
