based Emmy Winner and Visual Effects Guru Laurel Click, came to
Toonz Animation Academy in Trivandrum recently. Click has been in
this profession for the last 25 years with films like Terminator,
Braveheart, Mortal Kombat, Passion of Christ, Bats, Predator, etc.
In
her very first visit to India, Click gave a 90 minutes presentation
for the students of Toonz Academy on Visual Effects. She enlightened
the students about the finer aspects of visual effects that are
taken into consideration in Hollywood movies emphasizing on green
matte and blue matte shots, keying methods and VFX in 3D animation.
Seeing
the enthusiasm of the students, Click remarked, "Talent here
is plentiful and is waiting to be molded in the right direction,
I am happy to see that a world class production house like Toonz
is committed to ensuring this through its animation academy."

to AnimationXpress.com, Vinod, National Head, 3D Toonz
Academy, shared, "The session was highly beneficial for the
students. Laurel Click demonstrated the latest visual effects techniques
used in Hollywood films. She explained about the latest composition
and visual effects softwares. Students had a few queries related
to blue and green matte shots which were answered by her using live
examples."
In
her presentation Click also added, "VFX is an integral element
in animation, it is like, you add a 'bit' more to what animation
offers; stretching its realms to give that awe feeling to the audience.
I see a lot of VFX being used in Bollywood movies and the feeling
is one of cautious optimism as the need is not to imitate an inspiring
effect from a successful movie, but to creatively visualize a new
one, which requires integration of basics of creative thinking with
the powerful software tools."
The
session was an educational affair and received good feedback from
students. One of them shared, "The session was amazing and
really informative. We got a chance to interact with a VFX supervisor
from Hollywood and were really amazed to watch those visual effects
shots from Hollywood movies. We thank Toonz for providing us with
this opportunity.
