Cubes wins Global India TV Honors for Best VFX in Aahat

Mumbai
based Color Cubes VFX has won the Global India TV honours awards
for visual fx for the series Aahat season 3. The awards are hosted
by Balaji Telefilms in collaboration with Future Group.

Bandiwadekar, Kamal Hingorani, Yogen Thakker, Abhyuday Karyan,
Prashant Dey and Anish with the Award
"We
are feeling ecstatic after winning the award since its our first
at Color Cubes VFX in the first year of inception," said Himanshu
Bandiwadekar, Partner and VFX supervisor, Color Cubes.
When asked about the USP of the work that got them the award, Himanshu
said, "The episode for which we won the award was 'the revenge
of the puppets' where we animated a CG puppet and managed to pull
out about 50 lip sync animation shots of the puppet. We had to recreate
a CG model of the actual puppet used in the shoot. For the lip sync
animation we captured the reaction of an actual artist on chroma
and mimicked his reaction to the sentences. Lip sync animation was
to be complemented with an equally impressive body action which
had to be manually animated. There were scenes where we had to do
camera tracking before we could composite the puppet in the live
action moving plate. It was a very challenging episode and we are
very satisfied by how it has turned out in the end."

The
episode, showing CG puppets, for which Color Cubes won the
Award
While
elaborating on the series, Himanshu shared, "Aahat is a supernatural
series, so naturally it has loads of visual fx. We have done a lot
of character animation in the series including a man eating tree
to talking puppets and creatures. It has been a great project to
work on with challenging CG included. We have done a lot of rope
and rig removal shots."
The
entire six member team of Color Cubes including Himanshu himself
with Kamal Hingorani, Yogen Thakker, Abhyuday Karyan, Prashant Dey
and Anish worked on the project. Since the said episode had character
animation, three of them were involved in that process episode and
all of them did the compositing together. The said episode took
about 4-5 days to be completed.
Currently
Color Cubes is doing VFX for the series Rajkumar Aryan on NDTV Imagine
and a small series on INX media Babban Bhai VS Bimla Tai.
