Running
since a successful one year, the Graphiti School of Animation, founded
by the Father of Indian Animation, Ram Mohan, is launching new set
of multiple courses from the basic to the advanced level.
There
are courses with different durations starting from a short term
course of two months to an advanced course of two to three years.
These courses cater to different learning needs of people from students,
hobbyists, freelancers, to those wanting to become industry ready
professionals. A team of experienced animation professionals and
academicians have designed the curriculum.
Speaking
to AnimationXpress.com, Graphiti School of Animation's
Director K Pandyan shared, "Last year we had only one course
which focused on high end animation and was very intensive, so we
were only reaching out to people who had already decided to make
a career in animation. This left out a large number of interested
people who would want to know about animation but are not sure how
to go about it. That is when we decided to reach out to a larger
group of learners ranging from practicing professionals, aspiring
animation professionals, career oriented students, art college students
to school students, hobbyists, housewives, and amateurs. Our basic
aim is to educate about the opportunities in animation," he
further added.

The
three courses launched by Graphiti School of Animation are:
Primer:
It is a two month compact animation course to introduce students
to the art of developing animation and help them gain sufficient
skills to create simple animation shots. The course will commence
on 5 November 2007 which will accommodate two batches per day with
20 students each and anyone above 14 years can opt for this course.
Swift:
It is a six month animation course to train students about the complete
tools of animation and take them through the life cycle of animation
production. At the end of the course, the graduate will be a generalist
who can work in any animation production house at the entry level.
A student above 18 years of age can opt for this course as it will
start from 5 November 2007.
Expert:
This six month course is to acquire expert level of training to
enhance the core skills of practicing animation professionals. The
emphasis will be laid on specialization in any one animation production
aspect, out of modeling, texturing, rigging, animation and lighting
and compositing, as per the student's choice. This course will commence
from 21 January 2008 for which a portfolio and personal interview
will be conducted.
Concluded
veteran Ram Mohan, "From these courses, students will learn
concepts of animation film making, acquire skills in a specific
animation production area and gain some practical experience. Also,
these courses will help students in acquiring knowledge, developing
skills and gaining practical experiences."
Graphiti
School of Animation also plans to launch other long term courses
in the 2008-2009 academic year.
