In
today's competitive world, partnering with the right people is the
key to success. Red Bee's Andy Brynt extolled the virtues of Collaboration
in his session Entitled 'The Ocean's Eleven Approach to Creativity'
at Promax BDA India 06 where he used the concept of the Hit Film
Ocean's Eleven to explain his theory.
"Great
work happens when a team of specialists work together with a common
and clear understanding of the goal" said Brynt adding "Technology,
Programming, Marketing, Packaging all play their own part in making
interesting content"
Brynt
pointed out that the need for new forms of collaboration was accelerating
and that the advancement of technology was enabling international
collaboration. Showing clips from the making of IRobot, Brynt remarked,"It
is so much easier to collaborate and today advancements in 3D technology
and pre visualisation software is making that happen"
Giving
the example of Sci Fi's BattleStar Gallactica which had interactivity
and games as part of the content, Brynt said that TV is becoming
more of a lean forward medium. "The influence of technology
is not just about software" he said,"It has changed the
economics of Broadcast Media dynamically"
Nowadays
a lot of good talent chooses to work outside of the big corporations.
Brynt cited this as a reason that one would need to creatively collaborate
with freelance talent.
Sharing
a few tips, Brynt said,"Atitude is as important as talent.
Choosing the right people to work with is essential. If five talented
people have five different concepts of the idea, things wont work.
There has to be a clearly defined core concept. Also sometimes competition
gets in the way of collaboration, Honesty and Generosity of spirit
are vital too"
"One
has to also be careful and ensure that the collaborators have the
right level of involvement at every stage. The idea is to solve
problems and make things happen" added Brynt.
