Lord of the Rings producer Barrie Osborne, Hollywood Producer Michael Peyser and Indian VFX Producer N Madhusudhanan are joining hands to form a new studio 'VAYU Digital' in India.

The word VAYU (Sanskrit for Wind) within the studio'is name is symbolic of the swiftness with which India is growing prominent on the global animation and VFX map.

Speaking exclusively to Animation 'xpress, Indian VFX stalwart N Madhusudhanan commented “We are not competing with Hollywood’s Visual effects majors but are looking to provide a complimentary role instead. It is going to be a great learning experience and fun for each and every one in VAYU family! We are planning to bring in the International work culture in every aspect.”

Hollywood Producer Michael Peyser shared,"To begin with we are going to provide our services in VFX, mobile repurposing and Animation to some of the best film makers worldwide. Long term, we also plan to produce our own content at Vayu"

"We plan to do some extraordinary work for some of the most extraordinary film makers at all levels of the workflow. To do that we need to build an international group of digital artists as well as a truly top flight group of Indian artists. We are currently examining where the talent and competencies are within the Indian industry and how much international talent will be needed to be brought in to raise the level of the Indian skill sets. We want to be the company that people turn to for work on a timely cost efficient basis" he added.

The studio will be situated in Chennai, with the head office in Los Angeles. VAYU will setup its operation in conjunction with a local partner. VAYU will house 50-75 artists, a combination of western talents and locals to startwith and will rise its capacity upto 250-300 in the next couple of years.
