With
the big guns of Indian entertainment now setting their sights
on animation, the scene looks all set to blaze.
 Film
major Adlabs recently announced its co production of an animated
film based around Rajnikanth with the Chennai based Ochre
Studios. The latest news is that the entertainment big-wig
has formed a separate animation division and Sidhartha M Jain,
who was with Hyperion Pictures as VP for India has joined
as head of the Adlabs animation divison.
Sidhartha moved into his new role at Adlabs early this week.
His major role at Hyperion was producing the Salman Khan 'Hollywood'
movie Marigold. Interestingly Hyperion is also very
active in the animation space having created animated content
for the past 21 years. At Hyperion, Sidhartha was also involved
closely with the devlopment of two animated projects, Bollywood
High and The Oz Kids.
Speaking
to Animation 'xpress, Adlabs Head of Animation
Sidhartha M Jain shared," There is a huge opportunity
in the animation space and Adlabs is providing a platform
and resources to exploit the opportunity. We are not looking
to hire animators and start a facility. We intend to co finance
and finance development of original animated content and work
together with animation studios"
"There
are a lot of opportunities that we are going to explore, the
idea is to be a swift player and move quickly. The growth
potential is so huge that it is time that the big players
got into this space" he further stressed.
