Academy's CG Big B
|
Students
from Delhi based Pumpkin Studio and Academy have created a 3D
animated song featuring Amitabh Bachchan in CG Singing and dancing
to the song Mere Pass Aoo Mere Doston.
Speaking to Animation 'xpress, Pumpkin Studio
and Academy CEO Hardeep Singh Gill stated,"We have tried
to come up with a new concept for our indian animation industry
which nobody has ever thought of. We have got this work done
from some of our good students along with the technical team
to materialize this idea. Animation wise we have tried our best
but still in some of the scenes there is slight rigidity in
Amitabh Bachhan's animation"
"When we thought of making a showreel project for our institute
we toyed around with many ideas and finally decided to feature
a celebrity in CG. Naturally the BIg B was the obvious choice
for us. The song features Amitji as narrating stories to kids,
the unique thing about our video is that we transport viewers
to the various scenes that he describes in his storytelling"
The
animated video took around four months in the making and 5 students
(Pritee Jain, Ruby Singh, Rahul Kumar, Akshay Lamba and Gagandeep
Kaur) and 2 faculty members worked on the video.
Speaking on behalf of all the team members Ruby Singh who worked
on the background and props shared,"It was a great experience
working on a live project as it familiarized us with the exact
working environment of a production house. We were exposed to
a lot of technical details that as a student we were not aware
of, for example the importance of pre-production (sketching
and story boarding), meeting the targets for a day and refining
animations many a times to improve them, counter checking the
animation with the mesh, how lights and camera setting can enhance
a scene, detailing of the texture, background setting and accordingly
adjusting the characters on them, etc"
No doubt that the video does look very raw and the animation
is extremely rigid, but the fact that an institute has worked
on this and encouarged students to collaborate on projects with
timelines makes it worth a mention! |
