The
Bangalore campus of the National Institute of Design, one of the
most renowned design education establishments in the country, and
TASI are co-hosting a series of workshops by the iconic and legendary
Indian animation director Ishu Patel.
The
prolific Patel has been very actively involved at the NFBC (National
Film Board of Canada), where he has directed and created several
original animated films.
To
be held between the 10 to 22 November '06, the series of workshops
include a couple of weekend (three days) as well as weekday workshops
(two days) which will be themed around topics such as Importance
of Design strategies in Animation, Creative Design process for Developing
Animation project, Exploring Animation styles, Techniques, Use of
music and sound, story telling, content and understanding fundamentals
of animation movement.
The
event is supported by ABAI and MAAC while Animation
Xpress.com is the media and communication partner.
Speaking
to Animation Xpress.com, NID workshop coordinator,
Ms. Mamata Rao shared "Indian Animation Industry is gearing
up for very high growth rate in terms of offshore business in the
coming few years, we do have huge talent pool with complete understanding
of the technology and its application. There is no dearth of quality
people in animation production pipeline. What we really need is
to create artistes and professionals who understand appreciate this
art form, who can produce path breaking styles and original content,
we need to have experts in pre production and the creative process
and that is when we can move up in the value chain, from just being
service providers we can make "Designed in India" a reality.
This is where NID R&D centre will play a very important role
in Design Education".

forthcoming events will be a one day Workshop by Christian Callieux
on comic illustrations, seminar on artificial intelligence by Prof.
John Gero of Sydney University", she added.
