Medical Simulation is an area that many in Indian CG have identified as one with great potential, the news is that a few of them have ventured into it too.

Coimbatore based studio Mark IV Studios is working full time on medical simulation projects. The studio whose focus is hyper realism is currently working on a two minute cell cycle medical animation for a U.S based medical publishing company, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.
Established in August 2005 with three artists, the studio has considerably increased its team size to fifteen and plans to ramp upto 30 artists soon. Apart from medical simulation, the studio is also involved in creating photorealistic architectural visualization.

Speaking to Animation Xpress.com, Sivamalar, MD, Mark IV shared, "Medical Animation is a visually appealing field used for communicating/teaching medical related concepts. Educational institutions, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, medical equipment industries require the assistance of medical animation to explain the complex medical and scientific concepts. Depicting the scientific and Medical processes in 3D Animation helps in improved understanding of the processes and the quality. The accuracy and the depth of understanding the scientific processes are enhanced as well. With three decades of experience in the medical background, Mark IV is able to attain a level of perfection in the simulations it delivers. Each project is scrutinized by a panel of competent medical consultants to achieve accuracy and precision."

The studio has also associated with Vikram ENT hospital & Research Centre and will create medical animation for the hospital as a means of providing information and creating awareness.
