animation giant Pixar Animation Studios will be hosting its first
India event in Mumbai on October 11. The three-hour seminar will offer
perspectives on historical and current trends in computer-graphics
rendering, with a specific focus on Pixar's RenderMan.
Speaking to Animation 'xpress, Dhiren Shah, head of
Rahul Commerce which is Pixar's reseller in India said that,"It
is for the first time that Pixar's RenderMan is being launched in
India and we are happy to be associated with the award winning product.
With the amount of outsourced animation work flow increasing by the
day, we believe that Renderman will be an extremely useful tool for
all animation studios working in 3D"

Ford, Business Director for RenderMan, will open the meeting with
a discussion about new opportunities in India for RenderMan 12.5
and the new RenderMan for Maya. Dylan Sisson, Technical Artist,
RenderMan Products Group, for Pixar will then provide a technical
review of RenderMan and perform a demonstration.
Billed
as the highlight of the afternoon, Apurva Shah, Shots Lead for Pixar
and a faculty member at the Art Institute of San Francisco, will
use RenderMan to demonstrate in real time the different stages of
rendering on one of Pixar's award-winning films. A raffle and question-
answer sessions are also planned.
The event is scheduled to be held on October 11, 3.00 pm onwards
at Mumbai's JW Marriott hotel.
